Children develop, interact, and learn at different rates. Our children’s’ martial arts programs are designed with the specific technical, physical, social and mental needs of various age groups. Children are divided into 4 – 6 year old, 7 – 9 year old, and 10 – 14 year old classes and as they progress through the various belt levels they are introduced to new challenges and exciting classes.
Students enjoy a variety of teaching and training formats, boosting attention and producing quality technical results. Elements of the children’s program includes:
GOJU RYU KARATE – students progress at their own pace through the Gojukai system. Requirements for belt levels are readily communicated and belts are earned by, not simply given to, the students.
STREETPROOFING – children train for effective transfer of their martial arts skills to the self defense / street environment. This is accomplished by realistic training drills, awareness practice, discussion and role playing.
CONDITIONING – Achieving and maintaining good physical condition is key in driving good karate techniques as well as building strong esteem and personal image.
LIFESKILLS – Adding to the valuable technical and physical skills, students learn discipline, confidence, awareness, goal setting and positive social interaction.
All of our classes are taught by black belt instructors and coaches recognized nationally and internationally by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), World Karate Federation (WKF), the National Karate Association (NKA), Karate Ontario, and the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP).
